DENVER—Denver police have identified the suspect and the officer involved in a shooting last week that left one person dead.
Det. Sharon D. Avendaño says 37-year-old Davlon Royall Reagor died at Denver Health Medical Center after he was shot by Officer Ed Ash at about 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
Avendaño says Ash is a 3-year veteran of the force assigned to traffic operations. Shortly after the shooting, Avendaño said the man who was shot had been wanted for a parole violation and escape, and had a lengthy criminal record.
Authorities say Ash shot Reagor after the suspect failed to yield during an attempted traffic stop, then raced his engine as Ash approached on foot, causing Ash to fear the suspect was about to run him down.
Ash was not hurt.
