BOULDER, Colo.—A woman accused of hitting and killing a pedestrian on the side of a Lafayette highway has been formally charged in Boulder County Court.
Sixty-two-year-old Mary Jo Anne Thomas appeared in court Wednesday and was charged with criminally negligent homicide in the Jan. 30 death of John Breaux.
The 57-year-old Louisville (LOO’-iss-vil) resident was walking along the side of U.S. 287 when a vehicle veered off the road and striking him. He was well-known in the community for picking up litter on the streets.
Defense attorney Raphael Flores has said Thomas is being treated at the West Pines behavioral health center for Alzheimer’s disease and dementia.
Thomas was ordered to surrender her driver?s license and undergo drug monitoring.
