NORTH BEND, Neb.—Eastern Nebraska residents fought back flood waters Wednesday and authorities remained cautious after an ice jam formed on the Platte River near North Bend.

The National Weather Service issued a flood warning Wednesday morning.

The ice jam was said to be nearly a mile long.

About 70 homes on the river at McGinn Lake are in the affected area located two miles west of North Bend.

Officials have not ordered any mandatory evacuations, but firefighters have used an all-terrain vehicle to inspect homes and offer rides to drier land for those who wanted it.

Area officials will continue to monitor the situation, but say they hope warmer temperatures this week will melt the ice and break the jam loose.
