DENVER—Denver police have identified the pedestrian killed when a speeding car struck him and fled the scene as he was crossing a street over the weekend.

Det. Sharon D. Avendaño says 36-year-old Thai Son Nguyen was killed about 12:30 a.m. Saturday when he was hit in the 1600 block of West Evans Avenue.

Avendaño says he was crossing in the middle of the block. He died at the scene.

Police are still looking for the driver and the vehicle involved in the collision. Avendaño says witnesses described the vehicle as a light-colored smaller car, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix or Grand Am.

Authorities say the car should have moderate damage to the front end and perhaps the windshield.

Anyone with information is urged to call Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867.
