Shepard Fairey became the nation’s most well-known graphic artist last year with his HOPE images that adorned posters, buttons and other campaign materials for Barack Obama.Now Fairey has been hired by Saks Fifth Avenue to do the store’s Want It campaign for spring. Fairey has created everything from 1920s-era Russian shopping bags to images illustrating the season’s trends.You can see it all on March 12 when the Denver store and Cancer League of Colorado present a benefit fashion show. A cocktail reception, show and shopping are included in the $50 ticket price, which also offers a cut and styling consultation with William Whatley, a celebrity hair stylist. How the West is worn

Maureen De Haan knows that women in the West consider a couple of things indispensable in their wardrobes: a pair of jeans that fit and flatter, and a purse that contains all the essentials they need for an evening or a full day. De Haan started Denver Couture with those two product needs in mind, offering custom jeans and equestrian-inspired handbags. The jeans ($600-$800) are made to order in a variety of styles: flare, straight, skinny and wide leg. The bags ($400-$3,000) feature bridle-bit hardware, trigger snaps, leather, canvas and hair calf. Not an ordinary tote

Frequent conference-goers have a stash of generic tote bags bearing the name and date of confabs they’ve attended from Syracuse to Sausalito. But 1,200 attendees to the Sportaccord conference in Denver March 24-27 are going to be toting one-of-a-kind messenger bags made by Boulder-based Ecologic Designs. The company recycles billboards, and sporting equipment such as wet suits, climbing ropes and bicycle tires in creating a line of bags, wallets, clothes and accessories. Seem them at .
