BOULDER, Colo.—A 17-year-old boy and girl face felony charges in a fire that destroyed a vacant flour mill in Longmont.
The two appeared in juvenile court Wednesday.
The boy’s mother had posted a $5,000 bond for his release from the Boulder County Juvenile Detention Center, while the girl remained in custody on $10,000 bond.
Both have been charged with first-degree arson, second-degree arson and felony criminal mischief. Preliminary hearings are set for March 11.
The teens’ names have not been released because they are juveniles.
Police arrested the two shortly after the fire engulfed the 93-year-old Golden West Flour Mill on Saturday. Cmdr. Tim Lewis of the Longmont Police Department says a passer-by saw the boy and girl watching the fire and led officers to them.
The teens’ parents declined to comment Wednesday.
