A 19-year-old University of Kansas student from Littleton was found dead in his fraternity house Sunday afternoon, the Lawrence Journal-World newspaper reported Sunday.
Police identified the student as freshman Jason Christopher Wren. Authorities aren’t sure how Wren died, but there is no obvious sign of foul play, Lawrence police Capt. Ray Urbanek told the paper.
“He went to bed last night, and he obviously didn’t wake up this morning,” Urbanek said.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death, he said.
Wren graduated from Arapahoe High School last year.
The university issued a statement: “Our hearts go out to family and friends on this sad day.”
Wren was found in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon house, where he is a member. Other members called police about 2:30 p.m. Sunday. A fraternity spokesman told the paper there had been no events at the house Saturday night.
The University Daily Kansan student newspaper reported that fraternity members noticed that no one had seen Wren since he went to sleep Saturday night and went to check on him in the afternoon to find him unresponsive.
The university is offering counselors to the fraternity and other friends of Wren.
