Colorado State Parks is conducting a master planning process for the future development of Staunton State Park, a 3,700-acre parcel just north of U.S. 285 and approximately 6 miles west of Conifer. Staunton will become the 43rd Colorado state park.

The project team working on Staunton’s master plan is seeking additional input from Colorado residents, recreation advocates and other interested persons at an open house scheduled for tonight from 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Conifer High School cafeteria (10441 County Highway 73). St. Onge triumphs.

Ryan St. Onge of Winter Park won the national aerials title Sunday at the 2009 U.S. Freestyle Championships in Park City, Utah. St. Onge won a world championship gold medal last week. He credited the win at the worlds for giving him extra confidence going into the U.S. competition.

Hudak leads U.S.

Recently crowned U.S. Freeskiing Open women’s superpipe champion Jen Hudak of Park City, Utah, led the U.S. in skier halfpipe at the FIS Freestyle World Championships last week, finishing with the bronze in Inawashiro, Japan. David Wise of Reno, Nev., was fourth for the top U.S. men’s result, followed by Taylor Seaton of Avon in fifth and Walter Wood of Evergreen in ninth. Kevin Rolland of France won the men’s halfpipe gold, followed by Canadian Justin Dorey.

Hauser a telemark champion.

Drew Hauser of Silverthorne was named 2009 U.S. national telemark champion after winning the dual slalom championship race at Steamboat Springs on March 1. Hauser earned the title over defending champion Shane Anderson in a tiebreaker after three races. Kelsey Schmid-Sommer of Whitefish, Mont., won the women’s title, also in a tiebreaker.
