DENVER—Colorado’s lieutenant governor has signed her first bills into law since taking office two years ago.

Lt. Gov. Barbara O’Brien has been in charge since last week when Gov. Bill Ritter headed to Italy to visit his son.

She signed bills Monday to help balance the state budget by using state reserves to cover Medicaid bills and making it easier to register mobile homes.
