To avoid a potential scheduling conflict, Big 12 officials today moved up Thursday’s opening-round game of women’s conference tournament between No. 12 seed Colorado and No. 5 seed Kansas State to 10 a.m. MDT.
The first-round game for No. 12 vs. No. 5 had been originally scheduled for 12:30 p.m. MDT Thursday. But if the Colorado men’s team wins its first-round game on Wednesday, the Buffaloes would play at 1 p.m. Thursday.
The Big 12 men’s and women’s tournaments will be held in different arenas in Oklahoma City — the men at the Ford Center, the women across the street at Cox Convention Center. However, conference officials want to avoid any situation where a school has teams playing at the same time. Scheduling them apart will allow its fans and athletic department representatives can attend both games.
The Colorado men’s team, also seeded 12th, will open at 1 p.m. MDT Wednesday against fifth-seeded Texas.
