CORTEZ, Colo.—A man accused of killing his father and feeding parts of the corpse to coyotes has undergone a second psychiatric evaluation after pleading not guilty by reason of insanity.

Twenty-one-year-old Jeremiah R. Berry is charged with second-degree murder in the February 2008 death of his father, 42-year-old Jack Berry.

Results of Jeremiah Berry’s second evaluation weren’t available in time for a hearing last week. Another hearing was scheduled for April 9.

The initial psychiatric evaluation determined that he was sane and competent to stand trial.

Court documents say Jeremiah Berry claims his father raped him after telling the son he needed a sex change to become his wife. Parts of the father’s body were found encased in buckets of concrete.
