NEW CASTLE, Colo.—Garfield County authorities are searching for a man suspected of impersonating a deputy when he stopped a woman driving on Interstate 70 near New Castle.

The man, driving a dark green sedan with red and blue lights, identified himself as a deputy and tried to get personal information during a purported traffic stop on Saturday. The woman refused to give the information and the man left.

Sheriff’s spokeswoman Holly Hopple said Tuesday the man was wearing dark green uniform pants, a uniform shirt and a belt with a night stick.

No suspects have been identified.
