Patrick Grady of the University of Colorado fired a final-round, 6-under-par 66 on Tuesday to finish third at the Louisiana Classics in Lafayette. He helped the Buffs jump two spots to finish sixth.
Grady, a senior, carded seven birdies and one bogey in the third round on the 7,141-yard Oakbourne Country Club course. He finished at 5-under 211, one shot behind medalist Adam Cornelson of New Orleans.
CU hires Olympic coach.
Tom Hogan was named an assistant volleyball coach at CU. He was an assistant coach for the U.S. women’s national team, which won a silver medal at the Beijing Olympics.
DU women fall to North Carolina.
Chelsea Parks scored three goals to lead No. 9-ranked North Carolina (4-2) to a 12-6 win over the No. 21 Denver (4-4) women’s lacrosse team Monday at Barton Stadium.
DU gymnasts score a season high.
The Denver women’s gymnastics team (12-8) tallied a season-high 196.650 points to top visiting Brigham Young late Monday at Hamilton Gymnasium. The Pioneers were led by Jessica Lopez’s sixth all-around title of the season with a season-high 39.625.
Three Coloradans join Evansville Otters.
Three former baseball standouts from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference signed to play with Evansville (Ind.) of the professional Frontier League: Metro State catcher Reece Gorman, outfielder Jake Palmer and Mesa State infielder Kevin Mackey.
