LAKEWOOD — A private soccer coach who gave lessons to a teenager in 2005 and 2006 has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting the child.

Delbert Wallace Stiewert, 40, was arrested Monday by detectives from the Lakewood Police Department, according to department spokesman Steve Davis.

Stiewert was taken into custody after investigators were told that Stie wert had an inappropriate sexual relationship with the student.

At the time of the alleged assaults, the child was 13 and 14 years old. She is now 17.

Stiewert had been contracted to provide private soccer lessons to the girl. He is at the Jefferson County jail. His bail was set at $50,000.

He is being held for investigation of “sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust” and for allegedly engaging in a pattern of sexual assault over a period of time.
