NEW YORK — Tom Brokaw never claimed he was retiring when he left NBC’s “Nightly News” after the 2004 election. Now, he’s signed on for a USA Network project that’ll have him traveling along U.S. 50 in the coming months, reporting on the economic crisis and Americans’ reaction to the first year of the Obama administration.

U.S. 50 runs coast to coast and through Colorado, including such communities as Holly, Lamar, La Junta, Pueblo, Salida, Montrose, Delta and Grand Junction. It’s not yet known where along his route Brokaw will stop. The Associated Press
