The Colorado Foreclosure Hotline says it had a record month for calls in February. The Colorado Division of Housing says the hotline received nearly 4,600 calls last month, about 600 more than in the previous record month of last April.
The hotline averaged more than 160 calls per day in February. The typical average is 100.
Officials say the increase may be the result of more awareness of the hotline and programs or legislation related to foreclosures.
The hotline connects homeowners at some stage of delinquency or foreclosure to housing counseling agencies for free help in avoiding foreclosure. Since it started in October 2006, the hotline has helped 11,000 Coloradans avert foreclosure. The Associated Press
