Solar company Ascent Solar Technologies Inc. said Wed nesday it has begun regular production of its thin-film modules, which eventually could be used in building materials to produce solar energy.
Ascent said it plans to produce the modules at its Littleton facility in one shift per day and ramp up gradually to three shifts per day.
The company is developing what’s called “flexible CIGC monolithically integrated modules” at the facility and plans to begin commercial production at its 120,000-square-foot Thornton plant in two years, employing up to 200 workers.
