NEW YORK—NBC’s Tom Brokaw never claimed he was retiring when he left “Nightly News” after the 2004 election.

Now, he’s signed on for a USA Network project that’ll have him traveling along U.S. Highway 50 in the coming months, reporting on the economic crisis and Americans’ reaction to the first year of the Obama administration.

The USA project will culminate in a special around the one-year anniversary of Barack Obama’s inauguration, although bits and pieces will be seen along the way on NBC News.

U.S. 50 runs coast to coast and through Colorado, including communities such as Holly, Lamar, La Junta, Pueblo, Salida, Montrose, Delta and Grand Junction.

It’s not yet know where along his route Brokaw will stop.
