A woman tried to stab a police officer with scissors early this morning after she was caught trying to steal a computer from Wal—Mart, police said.
The incident happened at about 2 a.m. in a Colorado Springs Wal—Mart, 1575 Space Center Drive, according to the police department’s crime blotter.
The officer, Charlie Johnson, was at the store on an unrelated call when he heard a “commotion” outside a security office.
Theresa Winston, 50, was being combative after a store employee allegedly caught her trying to steal a computer from the store, police said.
As Johnson tried to take Winston into custody, a “struggle” ensued. Winston pulled a pair of scissors from her waistband and tried to stab Johnson several times, police said in the online report.
The scissors were knocked from Winston’s hand and no one was injured in the scuffle.
Winston faces first-degree assault, among other possible charges, police said.
