Tennis star Roger Federer on Thursday said that girlfriend Mirka Vavrinec is pregnant with the couple’s first child. The baby is due in the summer.
“This is a dream come true for us,” said Federer, 27. A 13-time Grand Slam champ ranked No. 2 in the world behind Spain’s Rafael Nadal, Federer met Vavrinec, 31, when both were on the Swiss team at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.
Federer lost to Nadal in a marathon Australian Open final in January. But it might not be more difficult raising a child.
“My back is feeling much better and I am ready to go,” Federer said.
