A Colorado Springs motorist was the target of a drive-by shooting about 4 a.m. Sunday as he drove down Academy Boulevard, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said today in issuing a plea for help in finding the culprits.

Three bullets slammed into the driver’s side window, leaving three holes.

The victim told police a gold Dodge Intrepid, with no visible license plates pulled up beside him, three people inside the vehicle flashed gang signs, then opened fire.

Fortunately the driver was not harmed, but the severity of the incident is evident in the damage to the victim’s car, Lt. Lari Sevene of the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 719-390-5555 or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867.
