ARE, Sweden — Sandrine Aubert of France won the last World Cup slalom of the season Friday, while Lindsey Vonn‘s streak ended as she finished 18th.

Aubert had a two-run total of 1 minute, 49.23 seconds, edging Fanny Chmelar of Germany by 0.06 seconds.

Vonn finished out of the points. But the Ski Club Vail product had a stellar week, winning the downhill Wednesday, the super-G Thursday and setting a U.S. women’s record by clinching her second overall title.

Benjamin Raich of Austria won the men’s giant slalom to move within two points of overall leader Aksel Lund Svindal of Norway, and Didier Cuche of Switzerland clinched the discipline title for the first time by finishing third.

Raich had a two-run total of 2:18.95. Ted Ligety of the U.S., the defending giant slalom champion, was 0.13 behind in second.

Pistons owner passes away

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Detroit Pistons owner Bill Davidson, 86, who was inducted into the basketball Hall of Fame last year, has died.

• Prosecutors in Philadelphia declined to file sexual assault charges against Memphis Grizzlies guard Marko Jaric, saying that the accusations against him from a Feb. 11 incident “lack prosecutorial merit.”

• New Jersey Nets forward Eduardo Najera will miss the rest of the season after having surgery to repair a sports hernia.

Contador wins cycling stage

MONTAGNE DE LURE, France — Alberto Contador outclassed his rivals in the uphill finish to win the sixth stage and take the overall lead of the Paris-Nice cycling race.

After Jens Voigt pulled away at the bottom of Montagne de Lure, Contador made his move 5.3 miles from the finish and overtook overnight leader Sylvain Chavanel.

Tyler Farrar upset favorite Mark Cavendish in a sprint to win the third stage of the Tirreno-Adriatico race in Italy.

Mackey leads Iditarod

ANVIK, Alaska — Two-time defending champion Lance Mackey reached the Yukon River first in the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race, hours ahead of his closest competitor.

Mackey estimates that since the 1,100-mile race began on Sunday, he has slept no more than a dozen hours.
