Back on track toward national prominence after missing the NCAA Tournament last year, Metro State, the winningest Division II basketball team for a quarter-century, returns to the bracket today in a first-round game against Winona State in Marshall, Minn.
Metro State (27-3), riding a 19-game winning streak that netted it the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference title, has a .709 winning percentage for the past 25 years, the best mark in D-II. The Roadrunners won national championships in 2000 and 2002. The Denver Post
