A 50-year-old Grand Junction man has been arrested in connection with vehicular assault and careless driving causing injuries after running over his 1-year-old granddaughter tonight.
After working on his 1982 Jeep in the 2700 block of Unaweep Avenue, Anthony Woods started the vehicle and backed it out of the garage, said Sgt. John Hahn, spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol. He backed over his granddaughter, who had exited the house through a screen door, about 6:55 p.m.
The child was taken to a hospital in Grand Junction and is in critical condition.
