AIR FORCE ACADEMY — Sacred Heart scored two goals in the first period and went on to defeat the Falcons in the second game of their Atlantic Hockey Association best-of-three quarterfinal series.
The teams will play the deciding game tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the Cadet Ice Arena. Air Force won the opener 4-3.
Air Force suffered just its fourth home loss of the season and its first in AHA tournament play. Entering the game, Air Force was 8-0 in AHA tournament play. The Falcons fell to 24-10-2; Sacred Heart improved to 11-22-4.
Sacred Heart again took the early lead, but this time the Pioneers took a two-goal advantage in the first period. Bear Trapp opened the scoring at the 3:36 mark as he buried a centering pass from behind the net by Anthony Yelovich.
Midway through the period, the Pioneers took a 2-0 lead on the power play. Corey Laurysen took a shot from the right point that was tipped in by Matt Gingera right in front of the net.
Air Force cut the lead to 2-1 when Scott Kozlak scored his second short-handed goal of the series at the 4:01 mark of the second period.
Eric Giosa then scored twice, once in the second period and again in the third, for the Pioneers.

COLORADO SPRINGS — Jack Connolly had a goal and an assist and Travis Oleksuk had two assists as the Bulldogs swept the Western Collegiate Hockey Association series.
