Five days after Commerce City police shot two men, one of them fatally, authorities have yet to release the name of the surviving suspect.
The police shootings happened after two men robbed a couple at gun point Thursday afternoon, after ramming their SUV with a sedan, near East 107th Avenue and Kalispell Street.
A 911 call was made to report the robbery and two plainclothes detectives in the area responded.
After a short chase the two armed robbers jumped out of the Toyota and tried to flee.
Gun fire erupted and 23-year-old Peter S. Ramirez killed. Family members told 9News the dead man’s full name was Peter Shawn Ramierez Rhein.
On Monday the Commerce City Police Department referred questions about the incident to the Adams County District Attorney’s Office.
Krista Flanigan, spokeswoman for District Attorney Don Quick, declined to release the surviving suspect’s name, citing an “ongoing investigation.”
Authorities have not yet said whether the two suspects fired any shots at the pursuing officers and the officers involved in the shooting have not been identified.
