DENVER—Authorities say a man is in critical condition after being shot in downtown Denver.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson says the shooting happened just before 6:30 p.m. Monday outside a bus station, after a fight broke out among a large group of people. One man pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots, hitting the victim in the back.

Jackson says the suspect fled, but police apprehended him in an alley between Emerson and Ogden streets. No names have been released.

Jackson says the shooting is under investigation by the department’s gang unit.
