DENVER—Republican congressman Mike Coffman and a group that accused him of ethics violations have submitted their closing arguments to Colorado’s Independent Ethics Commission.

The complaint by Colorado Ethics Watch, an independent watchdog group, stems from Coffman’s time as secretary of state. The group alleges Coffman knew an employee of the secretary of state’s office was illegally running a political side business.

Coffman denies wrongdoing and says Colorado Ethics Watch targeted him because he’s a Republican.

Both sides submitted their final arguments in writing on Monday.

The commission is expected to rule this month or early next month.
