DENVER—The Denver district attorney has cleared a police officer of any wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a suspect following an attempted traffic stop.
Thirty-seven-year-old Davlon Royall Reagor allegedly failed to yield during a traffic stop for speeding on Feb. 26, then raced his engine as Denver police Officer Ed Ash walked toward the suspect’s vehicle.
Police say Ash feared Reagor was about to run him down and fired several rounds through Reagor’s windshield.
Reagor died at a hospital.
District Attorney Mitch Morrissey says Ash acted within his legal duties when he shot Reagor, but that Ash could still face administrative action from the police department.
Ash is a three-year veteran of the force.
