LINCOLN, Neb.—The general manager of the Sapp Brothers distribution center in West Point has been sentenced to 45 days in jail and fined $8,000 for his involvement in a scam in which he promoted the selling of ethanol-blended gasoline at higher unleaded prices.
Tim Kaup (COP) also must perform 240 hours of community service and publish an apology in a Scribner-area newspaper. He was sentenced Tuesday in Burt County.
Kaup pleaded guilty to aiding and abetting Tom Wiese (WEE-see) in committing seven counts of theft by deception, one count of criminal simulation and one count of deceptive advertising.
Wiese, who owns gas stations in Scribner and Decatur, was fined $4,000 in November after pleading guilty as part of a plea agreement.
