A paraprofessional at Denver’s Lake Middle School was arrested last week on felony charges that he had a sexual relationship with a teenage student.
Roberto Rodriguez, 31, has been formally charged with sexual assault on a child and sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
The charges allege Rodriguez, who worked in a school library and was a girls soccer coach, had a sexual relationship with a female student that began in December.
School administrators learned of the allegations and immediately called Denver police. Rodriguez was arrested March 11.
Rodriguez remains in custody in the Denver County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on Friday to be advised of the charges. DPS officials said today that Rodriguez has not been in the school for a week.
