ASPEN, Colo.—Authorities say a Pitkin County prosecutor and his family were placed under protection last weekend after the prosecutor’s ex-wife was accused of plotting his death.

The district attorney’s office says extra security was provided to Deputy District Attorney Richard Nedlin and his family on Friday. Officials declined to offer specifics.

Nedlin’s ex-wife, 36-year-old Elinor Dvir of Denver, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of solicitation to commit murder. Court documents said she and Nedlin were in a dispute over custody of their daughter.

Dvir is being held at the Jefferson County Jail under $100,000 bail. The jail had no information on whether she had an attorney, and no home phone could be found.

Nedlin has remarried.
