Phish went away for a while, and now they’re back — in a big way. After a hiatus that saw the jam band’s stock rise exponentially, the group announced a summer tour this week that has everybody talking about the already-fabled four-night stand at Red Rocks, July 30-Aug. 2. Fans remember Phish’s 1996 multinight stand at the Morrison amphitheater, which ended violently and with police involvement. Now the town of Morrison is welcoming the band — and its legions of fans — for what is sure to be one of the craziest long weekends of the summer. Tickets go on sale to the public on Thursday. Mötley Crüe is ready for another trip around North America, and Crüe Fest 2: The White Trash Circus should be a hoot. (Yep, that’s the name of the tour.) Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, Tommy Lee and Vince Neil are inviting some friends along for the trip, and Godsmack, Theory of a Deadman, Drowning Pool and the Charm City Devils will join the multiplatinum metal act for the Colorado show, Aug. 4 at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre in Greenwood Village. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($10-$95, Ticketmaster)
Yanni Voices, I am told, give a very different show than Yanni would on his own. Yanni has a reputation for his sweeping, if cheesy, compositions. But this show takes the same international orchestra and adds four singers to the mix — making for “an enchanting and hypnotic live experience,” according to the tour’s press release. The show stops at Denver’s Pepsi Center for a June 16th performance. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday. ($29-$95, Ticketmaster)
Rod Stewart released “Unplugged … and Seated” in 1993, and the MTV-recorded album was proof that Stewart’s music was reaching new fans with each spin on the radio. More than 15 years later, Stewart is still plugging away with his own catalog of music — and those of others via his “American Songbook” records. The artist is coming to Colorado for a date at Fiddler’s Green Amphitheatre on July 30. Tickets go on sale today at 10 a.m. ($22.25-$99.50, Ticketmaster)
Death Cab for Cutie has one of the year’s hottest indie rock bills touring across North America this summer, including a July 14 date at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Attached to Death Cab’s tour bus are violinist/master sampler Andrew Bird and indie collective Ra Ra Riot. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($36.75-$40, Ticketmaster)
Korn brought nu metal to the masses more than 15 years ago, and the California-based group is still at it. The band has announced a date at the Fillmore Auditorium on April 29. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($45, )
O.A.R. straddles the line between pop and jam, as heard on last year’s hit record “All Sides.” The band was one of the most popular acts at last year’s Mile High Music Festival, and they’ll now headline Red Rocks on June 5. Tickets will go on sale at 10 a.m. today. ($36.50-$40, Ticketmaster)
