(JS) Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll led the parade as he drove an antique tractor from Cheeseman Park to the Capitol. A motorcade made up of antique tractors traveled from Cheeseman Park to the Capitol to commemorate  National Agriculture Day.  Colorado Agriculture Council, Lt. Governor Barbara OÕBrien, Speaker Terrance Carroll, Colorado Commissioner of Agriculture John Stulp, Mark Sponsler, Chair of the Colorado Agriculture Council, Food Bank of the Rockies CEO Kevin Seggelke all were in attendance. In  commemorating the day the Colorado Agriculture Council will donate $60,000 of food and cash to Food Bank of the Rockies. The Colorado Egg Producers will be donating 120,000 eggs and $10,000, and The Colorado Wheat Growers along with ConAgra Foods will donate 50,000 lbs. of flour to the Food Bank.      The week of March 15, 2009 recognizes American agriculture and the contributions of the farmers and ranchers who help provide the food, fiber, shelter, energy and other materials we use on a daily basis. Focused on sharing how agriculture provides almost everything we eat, use and wear, the National Ag Day program helps educate millions of consumers each year.   Helen H. Richardson/The Denver Post

Speaker of the House Terrance Carroll, D-Denver, led a motorcade of antique tractors from Cheesman Park to the Capitol today.

The parade was organized to commemorate National Agriculture Week, which “recognizes American agriculture and the contributions of the farmers and ranchers who help provide the food, fiber, shelter, energy and other materials we use on a daily basis,” the state agriculture department said in a news release.
