Clean Tech Open, a business plan competition, launched its fourth annual challenge for entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, government agencies, universities and nongovernment organizations Thursday to create 100,000 clean-technology jobs in five years.

The jobs challenge will include two new regions, the Rocky Mountain region, including Colorado, and the Pacific Northwest this year apart from California, where the competition originally began.

Business startups will compete for a total of more than $1 million in prizes.
