LINCOLN, Neb.—Nebraska coach Bo Pelini says the first day of spring football practice saw a lot of good, bad and ugly.
The Cornhuskers practiced for the first of 15 times Wednesday in the Hawks Championship Center.
Pelini said the effort was good and he’s just happy to have his players on the field again.
Pelini announced two position changes. Marcus Mendoza moved from running back to wide receiver and Quentin Toailoa (Toe-uh-LO-uh) switched from the defensive line to offensive line.
Mendoza has played behind Roy Helu (HAY-loo) Jr. and Quentin Castille at I-back. Offensive coordinator Shawn Watson said he wants to get Mendoza on the field because of his speed.
Pelini said Toailoa was able to move because the Huskers have adequate depth at defensive tackle.
