About 100 dogs rescued from an alleged puppy mill in rural Arkansas will soon call Denver home.
The first 15 in the rescue operation arrived in Colorado on Wednesday afternoon, flown into Centennial Airport by a volunteer pilot and organization. The rest of the dogs arrived here Wednesday night.
The dogs, including some puppies, will be taken to the Denver Dumb Friends League, which hopes to get the dogs adopted. Some may be available as soon as this weekend.
More than 300 dogs and 35 miniature horses were rescued Monday from an elderly couple’s 82-acre property in Arkansas.
Three other Colorado shelters — the Larimer Humane Society, the Humane Society of Pikes Peak Region and the Humane Society of Boulder Valley — also are planning to help with the large-scale operation.
