A Colorado Springs man has been sentenced to more than 15 years in federal prison on gun and drug charges, the U.S. Attorney’s office said today.

Miguel Rafael Hernandez, 32, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Court Judge Marcia Krieger after pleading guilty in December to weapons and methamphetamine-trafficking charges.

When Colorado Springs police raided Hernandez’s home in May, they seized nearly 12 grams of meth, two short-barrel shotguns, a .45-caliber semi-automatic pistol and a Thompson semi-automatic .45-caliber carbine rifle.

“The crimes Mr. Hernandez committed are precisely the type that endanger our communities,” Acting U.S. Attorney David Gaouette said in a statement.
