Getting your player ready...

Denver comic Josh Blue — a winner of NBC’s “Last Comic Standing” — is back on the tube at 11 tonight on Comedy Central.

Blue, who put the cerebral in cerebral palsy, taped the show at the Hudson Theatre in New York City in August. He killed — right next to Times Square.

“I love doing this, and what a great city to play,” he tells me. “It was an awesome crowd.”

New Yawkers awesome?

“Well, New York is harder. It’s a big mix of people. In Denver, we have our culture. In New York, you have every culture.”

It was a nice topper to two years on the road, 200 performances, not to mention the birth of his son, Simon, and his marriage Dec. 7 in Japan to Yuko Kubato.

“Pearl Harbor Day. It’s like Mardi Gras over there,” he says.

Simon, he says, is his joy. “It’s amazing, man. All the cliches you hear are true. I’ve done some awesome fun things, but this is my masterpiece. He cracks me up.”

People tend to find inspiration in Blue, which he says might be misplaced. “Being a disabled comedian, people give you the inspirational tag,” he says. “Not just as a comedian, but for your whole life. They see you do anything and they go, ‘Wow, that’s so inspirational!’ And I might be just going to the liquor store.”

Blue is back in Denver with Kathleen Madigan on April 25 at the Buell in a benefit show for the Kempe Center. He has never set foot in the Buell — so his first time there, he’s headlining. Which, he would tell you, is awesome.

He’s going to the Toad Tavern in Littleton for a viewing party tonight. He’ll also sing with the band Zebra Junction. “People with palsy aren’t the best vocalists,” he warns. “Let’s just say it’s unique. It’s funny, for sure.”

Lying low in Aspen.

Who would go to Aspen to go underground? A-Rod.

After his hip operation at Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, people figured Yankee star Alex Rodriguez would stay in Vail to recuperate.

But Troy Hooper at the Aspen Daily News says A-Rod has been rehabbing at the Aspen Club & Spa in an effort to dodge reporters. Other than that, Hooper reports, he has been lying low. No Caribou Club for the golden glove.

Funny.

Steve Martin sent flowers to the Comedy Works on Monday for a salute to his funny pal, the late George McKelvey.

The gang included Steve Stajich, Kevin Fitzgerald, Matt Berry, Ed Yeager, Leo Nino, Jeanne Gardner and Edd Nichols.
