Level 3 Communications said it signed a 10-year deal to transport voice, data and Internet traffic for Madrid-based Telefonica International Wholesale Service. The deal represents the Broomfield company’s largest single capacity commitment. Terms were not disclosed.

The agreement gives 250 million Telefonica customers in Europe and Latin America access to Level 3’s North American fiber-optic network.

Telefonica serves customers in 25 countries.

“The extensive reach of our network across North America provides the redundancy and scale necessary to support the demands of Telefonica’s global communications business,” said Andrew Crouch, president of Level 3’s wholesale markets group.
