Jump ball:

On Saturday at the Pepsi Center, where the Nuggets and Gold Crown Foundation all-star basketball games were contested before the Denver-Golden State NBA game, there was a sight to see in the opening tipoff for girls. On one side was Broomfield’s Anna Prins, a 6-foot-6 senior, who seemed somewhat startled at the other — Regis’ Mariah Williams, generously listed at 5-4. Of course, Prins won the tip. “It was great strategy,” said Mullen coach Frank Cawley, who led the White team. “I figured she could jump as high as anybody and get as close. I threw it out to (Williams) at practice, and she looked at me like I was crazy.”
