With former University of Denver standout Geoff Snider winning 25-of-30 faceoffs, scooping 13 loose balls and scoring two goals in his return from a fractured trachea, Philadelphia downed Colorado 17-13 in a National Lacrosse League game Saturday night in Philadelphia.

It was the fourth loss in the last six games for the injury-plagued Mammoth (6-6). Gary Rosyski scored consecutive goals to pull Colorado within 11-10, but the Wings went on a 4-0 run to take control.

Gavin Prout led Colorado with three goals and four assists. Athan Iannucci scored four goals with three assists for the Wings (5-7).

Colorado returns home to the Pepsi Center on Friday, when it plays Rochester at 7 p.m.

Pioneers edge Cal in women’s lacrosse.

Ali Flury and Steph Coyne posted hat tricks, and freshman Lauren Ciccomascolo had the game-winner as the University of Denver women’s lacrosse team squeaked past California 11-10 at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium.

Denver (8-4, 2-0 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) jumped out to an 8-3 lead early in the third quarter, but the Bears (4-8, 2-1) answered with four straight goals. The teams traded goals until Ciccomascolo scored off a free position shot with 5:20 left.

Dylla runner-up swimmer, Moore fourth in diving.

Former Heritage High School standout Mark Dylla of Georgia finished second in the 200-yard butterfly in the NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships at College Station, Texas.

Sean Moore of Ohio State and Regis High School finished fourth in platform diving with 443.00 points.
