Foul play is suspected in the death of 14-year-old Ashley Patterson who was found dead in a field near her home in Pueblo West this afternoon.
“We are investigating it as a possible homicide,” Charlene Graham, chief of the sheriff department’s law enforcement bureau, told Pueblo Chieftain The girl was found about 4 p.m. in a field in her neighborhood near Clarion Drive south of U.S. 50, the newspaper reported.
Officials are not elaborating on the suspected cause of death. Pueblo County coroner James Kramer said tonight that there was no obvious cause of death, and the cause would be determined by a autopsy Monday, he said.
The girl was reported missing about 3 p.m.
