Two people who died in a Garfield County traffic-stop- turned-chase have been identified as Wisconsin residents.

A state trooper pulled over driver Jonathan P. Holum, 29, and passenger Cora Weil, 23, early Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence on Colorado 82 just south of Glenwood Springs. Both were from Eau Claire, Wis.

When the officer turned to take their information to his patrol car, the pair took off, initiating the chase.

Holum lost control of the black and gold Ford pickup after he rammed the truck into a second patrol car trying to box in the fleeing couple, authorities said.

Neither wore a seat belt, and both were ejected from the truck, which rolled twice into the median.
