An Aurora man dozed off while preparing dinner on his stove Sunday, resulting in a kitchen fire that spread through his house causing $120,000 in damage, officials said today.
The fire occurred in the 14000 E. Tuffs Avenue about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, said Captain Allen Robnett, spokesman for the Aurora Fire Department.
The man, who was in the home by himself, escaped the fire unharmed.
The fire was brought under control about 5:03 p.m., but the home sustained heavy damage, said Robnett.
