FIRESTONE, Colo.—Firestone police say a man suspected of killing his ex-wife and her male friend was upset over their divorce last September.
Authorities told the Longmont Times-Call on Monday they don’t know whether 47-year-old Michael Acker intended to kill the pair when he went to his ex-wife’s home early Saturday.
Neighbors reported gunshots at 5:30 a.m. Officers found the bodies of Acker, Sharla Pierce and her friend Michael Federico.
Firestone Police Chief David Montgomery says Acker picked up his and Pierce’s two children from the Firestone home the night before.
Montgomery says the 13-year-old daughter and 15-year-old son were found unharmed at Acker’s Commerce City home and did not know what had happened.
