COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Police have identified the two people killed when the motorcycle they were riding went out of control and struck the back of a van in Colorado Springs.

Lt. David Whitlock says 23-year-old Joshua Saucedo and 19-year-old Lei Mamo Alipio, both of Colorado Springs, died after Saucedo lost control of their Suzuki motorcycle about 3:30 p.m. Sunday and skidded into the rear of a Chevrolet van.

Police say Alipio was ejected while Saucedo and the motorcycle hit the van.

Investigators say both riders were wearing helmets but neither one was properly strapped, significantly contributing to the riders’ injuries.

Whitlock also says Saucedo’s license had been revoked, and he did not have a motorcycle endorsement.

The van driver, 47-year-old John May, wasn’t hurt.
