BOULDER — A man and woman were discovered dead in a home in a middle class north Boulder neighborhood today.
Boulder police are releasing few details as they wait on a search warrant to enter the home and a coroner to being the identification of the two adults, police spokeswoman Sarah Huntley said.
The two children were not in home in the 3100 block of 23rd Street when the bodies were discovered, she said.
“We’ve located them and they’re safe.” said Huntley, who would not say where the children were at the time of the deaths.
Police have not spoken to the parents, she said. Police also are not saying how the couple died.
“We’re telling the neighbors that we believe what happened is confined to this home,” she said.
Neighbors said Robert Oakley lived in the home with his two young children.
The next-door neighbor, who wished only to be identified as Emily, said Oakley’s car left the home this morning and later returned, but she nor her roommate saw who was driving.
“It’s shocking,” she said, as police approached to interview her. “They were really nice people, the father and the children. The mother didn’t live there.”
A neighbor up the block said the family has lived there only about a year.
“I would see them come and go,” Sam Miller said. “He was a cab driver, so he came and went at all hours, but he was always friendly. If you’re in the yard, he would thow up his hand and wave.”
The Boulder Daily Camera reported that the home is owned by Robert and Katelin Oakley.
A neighbor said Robert and Katelin Oakley were divorced, and state records show the divorce papers were filed last year.
