UNIVERSITY OF NORTHERN COLORADO: The Monfort College of Business and the UNC Foundation announced the creation of the Garth Allen Distinguished Chair with a $200,000 donation from two donors. The chair was created to recognize the contributions of Allen, director of finance and professor of business law and finance. The first gifts of $100,000 each came from Brandon and Donna Barnholt of Hinsdale, Ill., and John and Angela Schmidt of Castle Rock.

METRO DENVER ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORP.: Elected Frank Gray, vice president of business retention and expansion at Adams County Economic Development Corp., as chair of the Metro Denver Economic Development Professionals committee.

CRIMSON SERVICES COMMERCIAL REAL ESTATE: Announced that Mark Ulrich has joined the Denver office as director.

UNIVERSITY OF COLORADO: Lonnie Johnson, chair of the periodontics division at the University of Colorado Denver School of Dental Medicine; Andrea O’Reilly Herrera, a CU- Colorado Springs professor of English and ethnic studies; and Paul Harvey, a CU-Colorado Springs history professor, have been named President’s Teaching Scholars for 2009.

DOWN SYNDROME RESEARCH FOUNDATION: Honored Dr. Alberto Costa, associate professor of medicine and neuroscience at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine, for his exceptional contributions to research in Down syndrome.

RE/MAX MASTERS INC.: Named Gary Arnold, Gwen Truex-Arnold and Nicole Leininger broker associates in Greenwood Village.

SOUTH METRO WATER SUPPLY AUTHORITY: Re-elected Charlie Krogh, district manager for Pinery Water and Wastewater District, as its board president for the third consecutive year.

INSTINCT MEDIA SOLUTIONS: Announced that Bob Chernet has joined the company as vice president.

BUTTERFLY PAVILION AND INSECT CENTER: Appointed John Collar, president and chief executive of the Colorado BioScience Association, to the board of directors.
