The Avalanche announced today that forward Ryan Smyth will miss the remainder of the season because of a fractured right hand.

Smyth sustained the injury during the second period of Wednesday night’s game against the Phoenix Coyotes. He was the Avalanche’s leading scorer with 59 points this season over 77 games.
